Former child actress Raquel Lee has filed a lawsuit against Disney, alleging that a male employee sexually assaulted her at age 14 during production of the 2001 film “The Poof Point.” Lee, who gained recognition through appearances on “The Amanda Show” and “The Proud Family,” claims the alleged abuse occurred while the cast was filming in Salt Lake City and during travel back to California.
According to the lawsuit filed Friday, Lee contends that Disney and director Neal Israel instructed her to develop a close relationship with the accused employee. The complaint further alleges that the studio fostered an inappropriate work environment on set, with sexually explicit jokes and commentary permitted around children. Lee claims she was not provided medical care despite experiencing physical and emotional distress related to the alleged incidents.
The lawsuit also asserts that Disney executives blamed Lee for production difficulties, with allegations that they described her as “out of control” and made derogatory comments about her character. The suit claims Disney subsequently canceled her role in a planned production following “The Poof Point.” Lee has since reprised her role in the Disney Channel revival “Proud Family: Louder and Prouder” from 2022 to 2026 and participated in the documentary series “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,” where she discussed her experiences in children’s television. Disney declined to comment on the allegations.
