The Iberseries & Platino Industria conference in Madrid has unveiled a new program designed to support European television series in their development stages. The Euro-Atlantic Series Co-Pro Pitch Program brings together projects primarily from European nations with the goal of connecting them with industry partners and accelerating their journey through financing, production, and distribution. According to program coordinator Rodrigo Ros, while distinct from the conference’s existing coproduction forum, the initiative maintains a shared commitment to fostering strategic connections.
The inaugural edition features nine television projects spanning multiple genres and countries, including Spain, Belgium, France, Portugal, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Canada, and Uruguay. The selection includes drama, comedy, thriller, and documentary formats, with titles such as “Callback,” a festival scandal drama, and “Heartbeats,” a sports documentary following elite female athletes navigating motherhood and professional careers. A committee of industry veterans from major European broadcasters and production companies oversees the selection process.
Meetings between project representatives and potential partners will occur throughout September 29, followed by a public presentation the next day at Cineteca Matadero. The program benefits from partnerships with prominent European industry events, including the Göteborg Film Festival and Seriencamp, which contributed two additional projects to the lineup. The conference runs through October 2 in Madrid.
