ESPN NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller faces a misdemeanor charge stemming from a serious vehicle collision that occurred on June 17 in rural Missouri. According to court documents filed in August, the 43-year-old was charged with improper lane usage after his 2023 Ford Bronco crossed the center line and collided with a semi-truck in Jasper County. Miller sustained severe injuries in the accident, including multiple fractures and broken ribs, and was airlifted to a hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
During his hospitalization, doctors made the difficult decision to amputate Miller’s left arm due to the extent of his injuries. A hearing on the misdemeanor charge is scheduled for September in Jasper County Circuit Court. Miller has worked for ESPN since 2021, initially as an NFL Draft contributor before transitioning to a year-round analyst role.
Beyond the vehicle accident, Miller has become the subject of a separate investigation by the Missouri Attorney General’s Office. Authorities began examining allegations that Miller owes money to multiple individuals for fantasy football leagues he operates. To date, 26 complaints have been filed against the former Bleacher Report writer. Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway indicated the inquiry may take considerable time due to the volume of financial transactions involved.
Miller previously declined to comment extensively on the financial allegations, citing legal counsel guidance. However, he stated he has attempted to contact league winners from the previous season to ensure payments were made. A fundraiser launched by his family on his behalf, which accumulated over $50,000, was paused in early July following the investigation announcement.
