The Miami Dolphins made a pair of roster moves surrounding their preseason matchup against the New York Giants on Saturday. Hours before kickoff, the team released veteran cornerback Nick McCloud, creating an opening on their 91-player roster. The move came as Miami prepared for their second exhibition game of the preseason schedule.
During halftime of the Giants contest, the Dolphins quickly filled that vacancy by claiming cornerback Jai’Onte McMillan off waivers. McMillan, 24, had recently been released by the Indianapolis Colts after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent following his college career.
McMillan brings college experience from two institutions, having played at TCU from 2021 to 2023 before transferring to Minnesota for the 2024-25 seasons. Across 55 games at both schools, he compiled 56 tackles, four passes defensed, one sack and one interception. Listed at 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds, the defensive back will now compete for a roster spot with Miami through the remainder of training camp and the preseason schedule.
