Dolly Parton was unable to attend Friday’s opening ceremony for NightFlight Expedition at her Dollywood theme park due to ongoing health concerns. Instead of appearing in person, the country music icon sent a pre-recorded video message that was played during the dedication ceremony by Dollywood President Eugene Naughton. In the video, Parton expressed her disappointment about missing the event, explaining that she remained in Nashville while apologizing for her absence.
According to Parton, she has been experiencing dizziness and dehydration, leading her physician to recommend against travel during the week of the opening. She humorously acknowledged the medical advice, stating that when a doctor provides such guidance, one must follow it. Despite the setback, Parton assured attendees that she would see them in the future and encouraged them to enjoy the new attraction.
This marks another health-related cancellation for the entertainment legend. Earlier in the year, Parton postponed her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace, which had been scheduled for September, citing health challenges. However, she did manage to make a significant appearance in March when she delivered the keynote address during Dollywood’s 41st anniversary celebration. Parton has maintained an ownership interest in the theme park since acquiring a stake in 1986, when it was renamed in her honor.
