Georgi M. Unkovski’s “DJ Ahmet” has emerged as the frontrunner in the film categories for the Adriatic Film and TV Awards, a prestigious ceremony celebrating cinema and television from seven countries across the Balkan region. The production, which garnered recognition at Sundance Film Festival with both the Audience Award and Special Jury Award for Creative Vision, secured seven nominations for the ceremony.
“Yugo Florida” followed closely with six nominations, while “Wind, Talk to Me,” “Mother,” and “God Will Not Help” each received five nominations. In the television categories, “Black Sun” and “The Hollow” led the pack with four nominations each, trailed by “Komar” and “Shame” with three nominations.
The nominees were selected through voting by over 800 members of the Film and TV Academy of the Adriatic Region, comprising film and television professionals from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Slovenia, and Serbia. These same academy members will determine the winners across multiple categories including lead acting, directing, and screenplay.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for October 24 in Porto Montenegro, located in Tivat. The Film and TV Academy of the Adriatic Region, which organizes the awards, was established by members of the Adriatic Region Festival Network, including the Sarajevo Film Festival, Auteur Film Festival Belgrade, and Zagreb Film Festival.
