Disney and TikTok have announced a partnership designed to expand short-form video content on Disney’s streaming platform. Under the agreement, TikTok creators will produce brief videos featuring characters and storylines from Disney’s extensive portfolio, including Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, and FX properties. The content will be distributed across both platforms, with Disney+ showcasing the material as “Verts,” the company’s vertical video format. The initiative launches in the United States in the coming months, with plans for international expansion.
The collaboration includes a “Disney Creator Ambassador Program” that will offer participating TikTok users incentives, event access, and career development opportunities. Creators will have access to hundreds of films and series from Disney’s library, while fans experience curated Disney-themed content on TikTok that refreshes regularly. Disney’s chief marketing officer emphasized that the partnership bridges storytelling with creator innovation, providing both artists and audiences with expanded opportunities.
The deal reflects Disney’s strategic focus on short-form content, a format increasingly popular with younger audiences. Research suggests that discovery of entertainment on TikTok often drives viewers to streaming services and traditional television. This partnership replaces a previous ambitious venture with OpenAI involving generative video technology that was ultimately discontinued. By leveraging TikTok’s creator community, Disney aims to engage new generations of fans and strengthen connections to its franchises.
