Disney+ is moving to capitalize on social media’s creative talent by establishing a partnership with TikTok. The collaboration will introduce fan-created content directly into Disney+’s “Verts” section, a short-form video feed launched earlier this year. The initiative begins with a pilot program in the United States, with expansion to other regions planned for later.
Through this arrangement, user-generated videos featuring Disney properties including Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar will be curated and displayed within the streaming platform. Disney has simultaneously launched the Disney Creator Ambassador Program, which offers TikTok creators access to the company’s content library alongside potential earnings, increased exposure, exclusive access to events, and career advancement opportunities.
The partnership reflects the broader competition between streaming platforms and social media companies for viewer engagement. Disney previously attempted to strengthen its short-form offerings through a $1 billion investment in OpenAI’s Sora platform, but those plans dissolved when OpenAI discontinued the service in March. Other streaming services including Peacock and Tubi have similarly pursued collaborations with social media creators.
The announcement arrives as Disney reported significant financial growth, with subscription video operating income doubling to $712 million compared to the prior year. The move also underscores the company’s recognition that emerging content creators represent a valuable talent pipeline for future entertainment production.
