Demi Lovato is making a return to the Disney Channel franchise that helped launch her career. The singer will reprise her role as Mitchie Torres in the upcoming third installment of Camp Rock, joining the Jonas Brothers who are returning as the fictional band Connect 3.
The original Camp Rock films from 2008 and 2010 featured memorable collaborations between Lovato and the Jonas Brothers, including the hit songs “This Is Me” and “Wouldn’t Change a Thing.” While Lovato was initially announced only as an executive producer for the new film, she will now appear on screen in the movie. The announcement came as she teased fans with a photo from the set, playfully asking “Y’all miss me?”
In Camp Rock 3, Connect 3 returns to the camp searching for a new opening act, bringing back the setting where new campers will compete to showcase their talents. Director Veronica Rodriguez explained that the filmmakers wanted to balance the returning characters with opportunities for fresh faces to shine, noting that Mitchie’s role involves supporting the next generation rather than taking center stage.
The film premieres on Disney Channel on August 13, with streaming access on Disney+ beginning the following day. The new cast includes several young performers alongside returning actor Maria Canals-Barrera, who plays Mitchie’s mother Connie. The soundtrack will feature a new Jonas Brothers song called “Come On Over.”
