Brighton & Hove Albion has brought in Canadian striker Promise David on a season-long loan from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise. The transfer agreement includes an obligation for the club to make the move permanent should certain conditions be satisfied.
Sporting director Mike Cave expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, highlighting that David has been on the club’s radar for an extended period. Cave characterized the 25-year-old as a pure finisher with exceptional physical capabilities and a proven goalscoring record. The executive noted that David’s background competing at the international level and in major European competitions would serve as a valuable asset moving forward.
Since joining Union Saint-Gilloise in mid-2024, David has accumulated 82 appearances while netting 41 goals and providing nine assists in the Belgian league. On the European stage, he has scored four times across 12 appearances in continental competition. Additionally, the striker represented Canada in the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign, further demonstrating his credentials at the highest level of competition.
Cave emphasized that at 25 years old, David is approaching his peak years as a player and possesses significant room for continued development. The club anticipates that his skillset will complement their tactical approach and contribute meaningfully to their objectives this season.
