British action thriller “The Priest” has completed filming in Cornwall following an ambitious production that brought together established talent and emerging filmmakers. Craig Russell takes the lead role as a former operative now living as a parish priest, whose violent past catches up with him when a woman from his previous life appears at his confessional. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Will Saunders and represents the inaugural project from Falmouth University’s MA Feature Filmmaking course in partnership with Action Xtreme studio.
The cast includes Luca Matteo Zizarri as a crime boss terrorizing the town, Imogen Mackenzie as the woman whose arrival triggers the narrative, and Sally Nash alongside additional cast members. The screenplay was developed by Maisie Davies, Sonny Barton, Zuzu Hanley and Jamie Moody, while award-winning cinematographer Becks Bouron captured the story across Cornwall’s distinctive locations including clifftop industrial ruins and historic churches.
Saunders described the film as exploring the tension between a person’s former identity and their desire for transformation, particularly when the past refuses to remain hidden. The production gathered a crew exceeding 60 professionals, coordinated by experienced industry veterans including stunt coordinator Ermar Alexander and armorer Ty Hopkins. Action Xtreme produced the project alongside additional producers from the university program, continuing the studio’s track record of developing genre-focused features.
