The Indianapolis Colts held their twelfth training camp practice Sunday at Grand Park, taking advantage of humid but dry conditions for an outdoor session. The team continues preparations ahead of upcoming joint practices with the Atlanta Falcons this week.
The defensive unit dominated offensive operations during team drills. Quarterback Daniel Jones endured a particularly challenging afternoon, throwing consecutive interceptions during 11-on-11 work—one deflected and caught by cornerback Mekhi Blackmon, another underthrown deep ball intercepted by safety Cam Bynum. The second-team offense, led by Anthony Richardson, struggled significantly with zero completions in their first 11-on-11 session, including a fumbled jet sweep exchange by wide receiver Deion Burks. Defensive end Laiatu Latu continues to impress, displaying disruptive play throughout camp. Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner increased his participation, engaging in 11-on-11 drills earlier than previous sessions.
On the injury front, rookie linebacker CJ Allen returned to practice after recovering from a hamstring issue. However, wide receiver Alec Pierce, who underwent left ankle surgery, will not participate in this week’s joint practices and has missed all of training camp while continuing rehabilitation. Special teams coach Brian Mason remained present despite suffering multiple torn ligaments during the preseason opener.
Multiple other players remain unavailable, including cornerback Mooney Ward, running back DJ Giddens, and offensive linemen Luke Tenuta and Nolan Rucci. The season opener approaches in four weeks.
