Marie Ngah proved instrumental in securing the title, scoring twice during a dominant first-half display. Ngah opened the scoring in the 20th minute before adding a second goal in stoppage time, while Naomi Eto contributed the team’s second goal. Cameroon’s superior performance established a commanding 3-0 halftime lead that Malawi could not overcome.
Malawi’s appearance in the final represented a remarkable achievement for the African underdog, who entered the tournament ranked 153rd globally and 32nd across the continent.
