The Asian Contents & Film Market has announced Japan as its 2026 Focus Country for the Producer Hub, a networking initiative designed to facilitate international film and television co-productions. Hosted alongside the Busan International Film Festival in October, the program will welcome ten Japanese producers who will participate in project presentations, networking sessions, and industry discussions. The Producer Hub, now in its third year of operation, provides an essential meeting ground where producers can explore partnership opportunities and exchange knowledge about financing, investment strategies, and regional incentive programs.
Japan’s selection highlights its increasingly prominent role in Asian co-production activities. The country’s growing involvement spans both independent cinema and commercial film and television projects, supported by competitive grant and incentive policies. This year’s Japanese delegation will showcase active development projects, explain the nation’s production infrastructure, and examine past successful collaborations with regional partners through dedicated case-study sessions.
The 2026 edition will run from October 10-13, extending one day beyond the previous year to allow participants additional time for substantive conversations. The program’s expansion reflects its growing success, with the Producer Hub’s partner network now encompassing 13 organizations across ten countries, up from its initial eight organizations at launch. Previous focus countries included Korea in 2024 and Canada in 2025, with the Canadian edition attracting 154 producers from 25 nations. Producers interested in participating can submit applications through August 31.
