Disney is preparing a special television event that celebrates its iconic princess characters through music and performance. “Disney Princess: The Ultimate Concert Celebration” will premiere on ABC this Sunday, August 16th at 8 p.m., showcasing footage from a concert held at the D23 Expo in Anaheim. The program will feature performances from some of the most recognizable voices associated with Disney’s animated and live-action princess films.
The concert brought together an impressive lineup of performers representing different eras of Disney entertainment. Original voice actors including Jodi Benson from “The Little Mermaid” and Paige O’Hara from “Beauty and the Beast” took the stage alongside contemporary performers like Auli’i Cravalho from “Moana” and Brandy, who starred in a 1997 television adaptation of “Cinderella.” Several artists performed duets, including a rendition of “A Whole New World” featuring Brandy and Lea Salonga, while Benson was joined by Halle Bailey, the lead from the recent live-action “Little Mermaid” film.
The special will include more than just musical performances. Viewers can expect spectacular production elements including fireworks and light displays from Disneyland, along with nostalgic clips spanning Disney’s princess catalog from 1937’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” through 2024’s “Moana 2.” The program will be available for viewing through multiple platforms, including ABC broadcasts, Disney+ streaming, and various live TV streaming services.
