DreamWorks Animation has unveiled the complete soundtrack for “Forgotten Island,” featuring prominent Filipino and Filipino-American artists. The musical lineup includes BINI, SB19, and legendary performer Lea Salonga, alongside previously announced artists H.E.R., Katseye’s Sophia Laforteza, and others. The soundtrack launches September 18, one week before the film’s theatrical release on September 25.
The film’s music draws heavily from 1980s and ’90s influences, with particular emphasis on Filipino and Filipino-American musical traditions. Composer Nathan Matthew David crafted the score using analog synthesizers from that era, blending pop and hip-hop elements. When the story’s protagonists enter a mystical portal, the soundtrack evolves to incorporate indigenous Filipino instruments, including traditional chanters, the Las Piñas bamboo pipe organ, and authentic tribal elements that enhance the film’s mystical atmosphere.
The soundtrack features notable tracks including the title song “BRB” performed by H.E.R. and Liza Soberano, who voice the film’s two main characters on a supernatural adventure. SB19 contributes a cover of Francis M.’s “Mga Kababayan,” while a reimagined rendition of INXS’s “Never Tear Us Apart” marks an emotional scene between the friends. Salonga, who voices the villain Manananggal, has her vocals integrated throughout David’s score, with her distinctive deeper tone complementing the other performers.
Pre-orders for the soundtrack are now available, with the complete track listing revealing numerous collaborative compositions that blend contemporary and traditional Filipino musical elements.
