Odell Beckham Jr. has reunited with the New York Giants for the first time since departing in 2018. The wide receiver is hoping his return also includes reclaiming his former jersey number, 13, which holds significant meaning for him.
Currently, receiver Jalin Hyatt wears number 13, but recent roster moves may clear the path for Beckham. Hyatt was waived and subsequently signed to the practice squad, removing him from the active roster where Beckham now stands. During a Monday media session, Beckham expressed his desire to wear the number again, calling it an honor and privilege while indicating ongoing discussions about the possibility.
In the preseason, Beckham has worn number 3, though that jersey is officially assigned to linebacker Abdul Carter. With Hyatt no longer on the 53-man roster after three seasons wearing the number in New York, the transition should proceed without complications.
