Pokémon Go players will soon have the opportunity to encounter Armored Mewtwo, a specialized version of the legendary Psychic-type creature originating from the 2019 animated film Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back – Evolution. Developer Scopely announced that this armored variant will be available through five-star raid battles during a limited window, marking its first appearance in the mobile game since the pre-pandemic era roughly six years ago.
The special raid event will take place on September 5 and 6, running from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time each day. The timing coincides with the conclusion of Pokémon Go Fest, giving players a final chance to add this rare version to their collections during the festival period. Trainers interested in obtaining Armored Mewtwo should note that this extended absence suggests future opportunities may be similarly sparse.
Players should be aware that the shiny variant of Armored Mewtwo will not be obtainable during this particular event window. Nevertheless, capturing the standard version of this heavily armored Mewtwo remains a significant opportunity for collectors who missed its previous availability window years earlier.
