Law enforcement arrested a man carrying multiple weapons at a Los Angeles golf course owned by Donald Trump on Sunday, just days before the president was scheduled to visit the facility. The 38-year-old suspect was apprehended at the Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes after being observed photographing and filming the grounds while monitoring security arrangements for an upcoming Republican fundraising event.
Officers discovered a loaded handgun with hollow-point ammunition in the suspect’s pocket during the initial arrest. A search of his vehicle in the golf course parking area yielded an additional loaded pistol with a chambered round and extra ammunition magazines. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department indicated the man had previously been under investigation by local police in connection with a separate robbery case.
A subsequent search of the suspect’s residence by FBI agents and detectives uncovered an illegally modified rifle, a second handgun, body armor, high-capacity magazines, and various radio signal devices. Officials also recovered notebooks containing statements authorities characterized as concerning. The suspect remains in custody without bail as prosecutors determine appropriate charges, though authorities have stated they have identified no credible public threat at this time.
Trump’s visit to the facility was part of his campaign activities across California and Nevada ahead of November midterm elections.
