Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay announced that All-Pro standouts Puka Nacua and Myles Garrett will likely sit out the next week of team practice to manage minor injuries. Both players were absent from Monday’s practice session, and McVay indicated they could remain sidelined through upcoming joint practices with the New Orleans Saints this week and Thursday.
Nacua has been dealing with soreness in his psoas muscle sustained during a joint practice with Dallas last week, while Garrett continues to manage intermittent knee swelling during his inaugural season with the Rams. Despite their absences from team drills, both players have remained active with individual conditioning and workout sessions. McVay emphasized the team’s cautious approach, stating the goal is a “return to performance” rather than simply getting players back on the field.
The coaching staff also provided updates on other roster concerns. Rookie offensive lineman Keagen Trost is expected to miss several weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in the Rams’ preseason opener against Kansas City. Trost, a third-round pick competing for a backup position, will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.
Meanwhile, retired defensive tackle Aaron Donald continues evaluating a potential comeback with the organization. The 35-year-old has completed his second formal workout at the Rams facility and is working through his decision-making process. McVay stated the team will not pressure Donald and will allow him to complete his evaluation at his own pace.
