The touring production of “Burlesque the Musical” faces continued challenges after four additional performances were canceled this week. Despite the setbacks, ATG Entertainment, a partner on the tour, has committed to moving forward with the production. According to representatives, the show will proceed with its final scheduled performances in Sunderland this weekend before relocating to Stoke-on-Trent, where rehearsals begin Monday with performances resuming Wednesday.
The cancellations stem from illness affecting several principal cast members, according to venue announcements. The production announced plans to supplement the cast with additional performers who have previously worked with the show to prevent further disruptions. This marks the latest complication for the tour, which is based on the 2010 film featuring Christina Aguilera, Cher, and Stanley Tucci.
The tour has experienced significant obstacles since its inception, with the initial Woking leg postponed in July due to technical difficulties with stage sets. The production subsequently launched in Sunderland on August 14, though with delays. Producer Adam Paulden confirmed that cast payments remain current and noted the tour has sold over 100,000 tickets, with dates scheduled through May 2027 and a planned global expansion in development.
