The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures has announced its fall film programming, which will highlight several cinematic milestones alongside a horror-themed focus. The schedule includes a 50th anniversary presentation of “Carrie” starring Sissy Spacek, alongside 30th anniversary screenings of “The Craft” and “Get on the Bus.” Additionally, Sofia Coppola’s “Marie Antoinette” will be celebrated for its 20th anniversary, with Coppola expressing her appreciation for the film’s continued resonance with audiences.
Director John Carpenter will lead a retrospective series titled “John Carpenter: Prince of Darkness with John Carpenter,” featuring selections from his body of work. Carpenter reflected on his career, stating that he remains proud of the films and worlds created throughout his prolific career. The museum’s horror-themed programming will also feature a Monster Mash day showcasing titles including “Hotel Transylvania,” “Blade,” and “Horror of Dracula.”
The fall schedule further includes a screening series celebrating filmmaker Roberto Rossellini, with his daughter Isabella Rossellini participating in the presentations. Rossellini discussed how her father’s artistic philosophy and curiosity about cinema and humanity influenced her own creative perspective. Museum members will receive complimentary admission for unlimited visits and priority access to all fall programming events.
