Sophia Laforteza, a lead vocalist for the pop group Katseye, has announced she will be stepping away from the ensemble to prioritize her mental health. Through a social media statement, the 23-year-old singer explained that taking care of her psychological and physical well-being is essential to sustaining her career in music long-term.
The group’s label, HYBE, released a supporting statement acknowledging Laforteza’s commitment to recovery. The company emphasized that artist welfare remains a central concern and pledged to monitor her progress while she focuses on healing. HYBE expressed confidence in her eventual return to performing with her bandmates.
This development marks the second time a Katseye member has taken medical leave. In February, fellow member Manon Bannerman stepped back for similar reasons and has not yet rejoined the group. Despite the hiatus, Katseye is scheduled to make their debut on a major late-night television program on August 12, and recently performed at music festivals throughout the summer.
