Peacock’s “Love Island USA” Season 8 has emerged as the summer’s dominant streaming series, accumulating nearly 19 billion minutes viewed across its 35-episode run from June through mid-July. The achievement marks the platform’s most-watched original season to date, translating to approximately 7.9 million total views when accounting for the season’s runtime.
The reality dating series demonstrated remarkable reach and engagement metrics beyond viewership numbers. Mobile devices accounted for 30 percent of total viewing, representing one of Peacock’s strongest mobile audiences. Meanwhile, one-third of viewers were newcomers to the franchise, and nearly half of the audience watched episodes communally with others. The companion show “Aftersun” experienced a significant surge, posting a 135 percent increase compared to the previous season.
Social media activity reinforced the show’s cultural dominance throughout the summer. The season generated over 5 billion video views across platforms, with TikTok contributing 2.5 billion views—a 47 percent jump from Season 7. The dedicated “Love Island USA” voting app saw substantial growth as well, with an 85 percent spike in users and 35 percent more voters than the previous season, with both apps reaching the top position on the App Store during the broadcast window.
Nielsen’s independent measurement confirmed the show’s status as the summer’s top streaming reality series, maintaining the number-one position for six consecutive weeks. A reunion special featuring hosts Ariana Madix and Andy Cohen is scheduled for August 31.
