Arizona women’s basketball secured a significant recruiting win this week when four-star forward Celsy Colombo announced her commitment to the program. The announcement came following a recruiting visit to campus during the weekend of August 21, which also drew other top prospects from the 2027 class to Tucson.
Colombo, a 6-foot-4 power forward from the Buffalo, New York area, currently plays for St. Mary’s High School in Lancaster. During the previous season, she averaged 10.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game across 20 appearances while shooting 73 percent from the free-throw line. Multiple recruiting services recognize her elite status, with 247Sports ranking her 38th nationally and Rivals placing her at 53rd. She received offers from numerous prominent programs including Syracuse, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina, and Georgia Tech before ultimately selecting the Wildcats.
Head coach Becky Burke continues to build one of the strongest recruiting classes in the country. The addition of Colombo gives Arizona two four-star commitments in the 2027 class, bolstering what is already a top-20 recruiting haul for 2026. Burke’s program also appears to be in contention for other blue-chip prospects, including top-30 recruit Finley Parcher from Washington, who recently included the Wildcats among her group of schools under consideration.
