Though the Saints possess younger backfield options, White’s experience and emergency depth value could prove valuable given the organization’s injury history at the position. Kicker Charlie Smyth represents perhaps the most straightforward retention case, as his participation in the International Player Pathway allows New Orleans to maintain him as an extra squad member without consuming a standard practice squad roster spot.
Other candidates receiving consideration include quarterback Hunter Dekkers, who showed promise during his preseason debut with the organization, and wide receiver Bub Means, whose performance against Jacksonville showcased his size and receiving ability. The Saints are also evaluating offensive linemen Alan Herron and Xavier Truss, along with defensive contributors including safety Terrell Burgess, cornerbacks Isaac Yiadom and T.J. Hall Jr., and additional receiver Josh Palmer, each bringing varied levels of NFL experience and positional depth.
