The Boles Hornets recently participated in a scrimmage against the Maud Cardinals as preparations continue for the upcoming football season. Head Coach Jawny Canon observed several encouraging aspects of the matchup, noting that his squad demonstrated significant enthusiasm and competitive drive when facing an opponent outside of their own roster.
Canon acknowledged that while the team is relatively young and will experience considerable development throughout the season, the players showed resilience by responding to coaching adjustments and preventing mistakes from cascading into larger problems. The coach emphasized that adaptability and receptiveness to instruction will prove essential as the program matures.
Freshman quarterback Trystan Thomason made a particularly strong impression during the contest. Thomason executed several effective reads and accounted for three total touchdowns, including one rushing score covering 19 yards and two passing touchdowns, demonstrating his ability to follow the coaching staff’s guidance.
The Hornets will continue their preseason preparation with another scrimmage scheduled for Thursday evening against Wolfe City, providing additional opportunities to evaluate their progress before regular season competition begins.
