Sideline reporter Laura Rutledge later clarified that the coach had demonstrated patience during the earlier technical problems but ultimately had to move on with his responsibilities.
The incident also occurred during halftime when Sarkisian declined another interview request from Rutledge. She acknowledged that he had waited considerable time before the network’s equipment malfunctioned, noting that the coach deserved an apology for the inconvenience rather than criticism for his departure.
Despite the rocky media interactions, Sarkisian’s team delivered an impressive second-half performance. After trailing 20-3 at halftime, Texas held Ohio State to just three points in the final two quarters while its offense improved significantly. The Longhorns will face UTSA next in Week 3.
