The 2026 Fantasia International Film Festival concluded with audience members selecting their favorite films across multiple categories. Director Nicky Murphy’s vampire mockumentary “I Love Paris,” a co-production between France and Australia, earned the top prize for best international feature. The film’s comedic take on the vampire genre resonated with festival attendees during the voting period.
In the animated feature category, Japanese director Masanao Kawajiri’s “Cherry and Virgin” claimed the gold award for best animated feature. The festival, which ran from mid-July through early August in Montreal, recognized exceptional work across numerous categories including documentaries, shorts, and regional productions from Canada and Quebec.
The audience awards followed the announcement of the festival’s juried selections, giving moviegoers the opportunity to honor their preferred films. Additional winners included “Unholy Night” for best Canadian feature and “The Seoul Guardians” in the documentary category, showcasing the diverse range of international cinema celebrated throughout the festival’s three-week run.
