A California resident has been charged with multiple felonies following his arrest at a Los Angeles-area golf course belonging to Donald Trump. Jeanine John Taele, 38, was taken into custody on Sunday at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes while impersonating a member of the security detail ahead of the president’s scheduled visit to the area.
Law enforcement discovered a loaded 9mm pistol, binoculars, and a fraudulent security badge in Taele’s vehicle during the arrest. A subsequent search of his residence in Downey revealed an unregistered short-barreled rifle, additional firearms, ammunition, body armor, and notebooks containing statements authorities described as concerning. Taele, a former Marine corporal who served deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan between 2008 and 2016, pleaded not guilty to all charges, with bail set at $250,000.
According to federal court documents, Taele first appeared on the golf course grounds on Friday, moving throughout the property while wearing an earpiece and photographing federal agents conducting security assessments. He was observed for several days before his arrest on Sunday, two days before Trump’s planned visit to the location for a Republican National Committee dinner event.
