The Muhlenberg A’s secured their second consecutive United Baseball League championship on Wednesday evening at Etchberger Memorial Field in Hamburg, defeating the Pine Grove Grovers 12-7 in the final game of the series.
Muhlenberg dominated the early innings, scoring three runs in the first inning. Cooper Burr’s hit-by-pitch started the rally, followed by Cole Harter’s RBI double and Aaden Lopez’s double that extended the lead. The A’s added two more runs in the second inning, with Burr and Harter combining for another scoring opportunity. Muhlenberg’s pitcher Kaleb Mendoza delivered a strong performance through four innings, allowing just one hit and two runs while recording four strikeouts.
Pine Grove mounted a comeback attempt, narrowing the gap with a three-run sixth inning highlighted by Dane Hannevig’s RBI double. However, Muhlenberg responded decisively with four runs in the seventh inning to put the game out of reach. Pine Grove scored twice more in the bottom of the seventh but fell short in their comeback bid.
The championship victory capped a successful season for Muhlenberg, whose offensive production and pitching depth proved decisive throughout the series. Despite Pine Grove’s resilience and several scoring opportunities, the A’s maintained control to claim the league title.
