Banijay Live has announced an expansion of its immersive “Luminiscence” experience to New York City, with an installation launching October 1 at the landmark St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Fifth Avenue. The production will feature actor Jonathan Roumie as narrator, guiding audiences through the multi-sensory exhibition that combines light, music, and choral performances designed to create a meaningful spiritual experience.
Roumie, known for his role in “The Chosen,” brings significant credentials to the project. Ben Samek, CEO of Banijay Americas, praised the casting, stating that Roumie’s authenticity and depth as a performer made him ideal for helping audiences engage with the experience in a profound manner. The actor expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, noting his personal connection as a native New Yorker to the cathedral’s architectural significance and spiritual importance.
The “Luminiscence” franchise has already proven its appeal internationally, attracting 2 million visitors across 20 productions in eight countries including France, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Brazil. The St. Patrick’s installation represents the experience’s expansion in North America. Performances will run through the end of the year, with varying ticket prices depending on the depth of the chosen experience. Church leadership, including Archbishop Ronald Hicks, has endorsed the partnership, viewing it as an opportunity to preserve the historic space while introducing new generations to the cathedral.
