Actor Seth Green disclosed on a recent podcast episode that he was excluded from discussions regarding a potential return to the canceled Hulu “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” reboot. Speaking on “The McBride Rewind” on September 8, Green stated plainly that he had no involvement in any talks about reprising his character Oz, the werewolf musician from the original series.
Despite not being consulted about the project, Green expressed openness to the idea if given the opportunity. He indicated he would enthusiastically participate if the creative team developed a storyline exploring where his character stands in the present day, demonstrating his lingering attachment to the beloved role.
Hulu’s reboot, titled “Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale,” was set to premiere in March 2025 but was canceled following the pilot episode. Original series star Sarah Michelle Gellar was attached to the project and shared the news of its cancellation through social media, expressing disappointment while praising director Chloé Zhao’s involvement in the revival attempt.
The new iteration would have featured Ryan Kiera Armstrong as a fresh slayer with Gellar returning as the iconic protagonist Buffy. The pilot cast also included several new actors portraying supporting characters in the reimagined version of the supernatural drama that originally aired from 1997 to 2003.
