OpenAI is expanding access to ChatGPT’s text capabilities for users on its free and Go subscription tiers. Beginning next week, these users will no longer face conversation limits when exchanging text-based messages with the chatbot. Previously, such users encountered rate restrictions that prevented extensive chat sessions. However, limitations will remain in place for messages containing file uploads or images.
The company is simultaneously rolling out additional features for free and Go tier subscribers. A new “Think” button will allow users to leverage advanced reasoning capabilities when tackling complex questions. This week, OpenAI upgraded the default AI model for these tiers to the recently launched GPT-5.6 Luna version.
Premium subscribers using Plus and Pro tiers will benefit from an updated GPT-5.6 Sol model designed to enhance factual accuracy. The improvements focus on reducing errors in responses that depend on dates, numbers, sources, and other specific information. Starting Thursday, Plus and Pro users will also gain access to a slider control that lets them adjust the depth of analysis ChatGPT applies to their queries.
