Moove has secured $250 million in funding as it pivots toward becoming a central operator in the autonomous vehicle industry. The round values the company at $2.1 billion, with Mubadala Investment Company leading the Series C funding alongside Woven Capital and Ion Pacific. Based in Dubai and founded in Nigeria in 2020, Moove is leveraging its experience managing large vehicle fleets to expand into robotaxi operations.
The company currently operates a 42,000-vehicle human-driven ride-hailing fleet across 14 countries while also providing vehicle financing services. Moove’s leadership identified a gap in the autonomous vehicle ecosystem, noting that major players—from autonomous vehicle developers to manufacturers and ride-hailing platforms—were reluctant to own and manage vehicles themselves. This observation prompted Moove to develop a business model centered on owning, operating, and orchestrating autonomous vehicles.
Moove is already functioning as the fleet operator for Waymo robotaxis in Phoenix, Miami, Las Vegas, and London, though it does not yet own these vehicles. The company plans to eventually purchase Waymo robotaxis through debt financing and already owns autonomous vehicles from another undisclosed developer. The fresh capital will support expansion of its autonomous vehicle management operations, including approximately 350 new hires and development of automated depot facilities called “Nests,” which will handle vehicle charging, maintenance, and servicing using robotics technology.
