The Chicago Bears activated offensive lineman Ozzy Trapilo from the physically unable to perform list on Sunday, marking his return to the field following a significant injury. Trapilo had suffered a torn patellar tendon during the team’s playoff victory against Green Bay in January, sidelining him for seven months. His presence at Sunday’s practice represented a faster-than-expected recovery timeline for the offensive lineman.
During his initial practice session, Trapilo participated in individual drills under the supervision of coaching staff but has not yet progressed to full team activities. The Bears are taking a measured approach to his return, gradually ramping up his involvement as he continues his rehabilitation process. Video footage from practice showed Trapilo working through the specialized drills designed for players returning from injury.
Trapilo’s activation adds depth to an ongoing competition at the left tackle position. The Bears currently have several candidates vying for the role, including veterans Braxton Jones, Kiran Amegadjie, and Jedrick Wills. Trapilo had established himself as a starter late last season before his injury, beginning his tenure at the position in Week 12 of 2025 and maintaining consistent performance until the playoff game ended his season.
