Jed York, a 46-year-old co-owner of both Leeds United and the San Francisco 49ers, has been sentenced to jail time following his arrest in Ohio. York was convicted of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools after entering a no contest plea, a legal option in Ohio that allows acceptance of a conviction without formal admission of guilt. He received one day in jail for each charge, served concurrently, and was credited for time already spent in custody. Additionally, York faced financial penalties totaling $1,150.
According to court documents, York was arrested by the East Palestine Police Department after responding to an online advertisement placed by undercover officers from a Human Trafficking Task Force. He allegedly agreed to pay $140 for sexual services. Through a plea agreement, the original prostitution charge was reduced to disorderly conduct, while the criminal tools charge reportedly referred to his mobile phone used to contact the undercover officers. York’s request to have court records expunged was denied.
York acquired his stake in Rangers through 49ers Enterprises, the investment vehicle of the San Francisco 49ers, where he serves as chief executive and principal owner. The 49ers Enterprises consortium completed a takeover of Rangers in May 2025, acquiring a 51% controlling stake in the Scottish club. York is not involved in day-to-day operations at either Rangers or Leeds. Both clubs declined to comment on the matter, while the 49ers and NFL indicated the case would be reviewed under relevant conduct policies.
