A star-studded benefit compilation aimed at supporting immigrant rights organizations is set to launch this fall. Build Art Make Change has assembled over 30 artists from music, comedy, and spoken word for “Contra-ICE Vol. 1: ICE OUT,” releasing October 2 through SoundsGood Records. All proceeds will support the National Day Laborer Organizing Network and Unión del Barrio in their advocacy efforts.
The project features an impressive roster of contributors including Kathleen Hanna, Ad-Rock, Tom Morello, Jello Biafra, Ozomatli, Fishbone, and Fred Armisen, among numerous others. A cover of “Let Me Love You” serves as the album’s debut single, performed by Hanna, Ad-Rock, Money Mark, and additional musicians, with production from Mario Caldato Jr. of the Beastie Boys. The compilation contains both exclusive and previously unreleased material curated to create a listening journey addressing themes of resistance and hope.
Multiple formats will be available beginning October 2, including standard and limited-edition vinyl, digital, and CD versions. Signed premium vinyl editions featuring the work of cartoonist and artistic director Lalo Alcaraz will also be offered. To celebrate the release, Build Art Make Change will host a daylong performance event on October 3 at La Cita in Los Angeles, featuring artists from the compilation. Ticket sales begin August 14 at 10 a.m. local time through Contra-ICE’s official website.
