GuliKit has unveiled its ES Max wireless controller for Nintendo Switch, marking the company’s first wireless offering to incorporate an enhanced version of tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) thumbstick technology. Priced at $49.99, the new controller sits between the previous ES Pro model and Nintendo’s own Switch 2 Pro Controller in terms of cost while promising superior performance and durability compared to traditional analog sticks prone to drift issues.
The ES Max’s improved TMR thumbsticks represent a refinement rather than a complete overhaul of existing technology. The key advancement lies in how stick movement is measured—rather than detecting changes in magnetic field strength, the new system tracks the rotational angle of a magnet as it moves with the stick. This methodology maintains consistent magnetic field strength, delivering more accurate readings and enhanced precision during gameplay.
Beyond its upgraded thumbsticks, the ES Max boasts several additional features designed to appeal to serious gamers. The controller includes two remappable rear buttons, interchangeable thumbstick caps, and Hall-effect linear triggers that can switch to micro-switches for faster response times. The device maintains broad compatibility across Nintendo Switch versions, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and Steam platforms.
GuliKit is also rolling out a companion mobile application for the first time, enabling users to customize and configure their controllers. The company is bundling a Hyperlink 2 Bluetooth adapter to reduce latency when using the ES Max wirelessly.
