Manchester United midfielder Dan Gore is edging closer to completing a temporary move to League One side Luton Town. The 21-year-old spent the previous season on loan at Rotherham United, where he made 34 competitive appearances. Although Gore featured in manager Michael Carrick’s pre-season preparations, a temporary arrangement away from Old Trafford had always been the intended plan for his development.
Among Gore’s multiple potential destinations, Luton Town has emerged as the leading option. The prospect of working alongside Jack Wilshere, who operates in a comparable midfield role, is understood to have influenced Gore’s preference for the club. However, negotiations remain ongoing and no agreement has yet been finalized between the parties involved.
The uncertainty surrounding Gore’s future is mirrored by questions over two other young defenders at the club. Left-back Harry Amass, aged 19, was expected to depart but his situation remains unresolved. The defender featured throughout pre-season as backup to Luke Shaw but was excluded from the opening Premier League fixture against Hull City, instead appearing in Premier League 2 action.
Fellow left-back Diego Leon, also 19, finds himself in a similar predicament. Despite earning his first full international cap for Paraguay recently, Leon has failed to break into first-team consideration. The young defender has expressed a desire to secure a loan arrangement elsewhere, though no such deal has been confirmed at this stage.
