Grokipedia, xAI’s artificial intelligence-powered encyclopedia initiative, appears to have stalled significantly. According to reporting from Lawfare, the platform has not processed any content updates since late April, despite Elon Musk’s earlier claims that it would represent a substantial advancement compared to traditional Wikipedia.
The project launched in October 2025 with roughly 885,000 AI-generated articles and has since expanded to over 6 million entries following a November update. However, the platform’s “recent changes” section now displays a message indicating no active edits are currently available. When researchers examined thousands of pages containing user-submitted corrections and suggestions, they discovered that none had been accepted or rejected within the preceding three months.
Despite maintaining the ability for users to propose new articles and suggest edits, Grokipedia appears inactive in processing this feedback. Speculation has emerged online about whether the platform has been abandoned. Adding to questions about the project’s status, Musk has not publicly mentioned Grokipedia since February, and xAI did not respond to requests for comment regarding the extended pause in updates.
