Rattler’s path to the NFL began as a highly recruited prospect at Pinnacle High School, where he committed to Oklahoma. After limited action as a true freshman in 2019, he earned the starting role and led the Big 12 in multiple statistical categories during an outstanding 2020 season. However, his 2021 campaign proved tumultuous when he was benched in favor of Caleb Williams, prompting his transfer to South Carolina for his final two years of college eligibility.
During his tenure with the Gamecocks, Rattler threw for over 6,200 yards with 37 touchdowns across two seasons. His professional career has included competing for the backup role with Tyler Shough after the Saints drafted the younger quarterback in the second round. Throughout his two seasons in New Orleans, Rattler has appeared in limited games while primarily serving in reserve capacity, though he recently secured the backup position over Zach Wilson heading into the 2026 campaign.
