Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd has predicted the Detroit Lions will claim the NFC North title in 2026 following their disappointing 9-8 finish last season. Cowherd cited several reasons for his forecast during a recent episode of his show, including what he views as the division’s strongest roster combined with a favorable schedule ahead.
According to Cowherd, the Lions made meaningful improvements to address previous weaknesses. He highlighted their new offensive coordinator hire and the resolution of their right tackle position, with former Clemson prospect Blake Miller expected to step in after Penei Sewell’s transition. The analyst emphasized the team’s offensive weaponry, calling their quarterback, running back, tight end, and receiver group superior to any other in the league, featuring Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Sam LaPorta.
Beyond Detroit, Cowherd projected the Chicago Bears to finish second in the division, followed by the Green Bay Packers in third and the Minnesota Vikings in fourth. His NFC predictions also included the Philadelphia Eagles winning the East, the New Orleans Saints capturing the South, and the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks taking the West.
The Lions will begin their 2026 campaign on September 13 at home against the Saints, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Fox.
