The North Coast Paddling Club recently demonstrated its commitment to a meaningful cause by participating in a dragon boat race focused on cancer awareness. Despite challenging weather conditions, the organization’s members took to the water in Ridgefield, Washington on August 1st for the Paddle for Life event.
The race drew an impressive turnout, with 52 teams competing in women’s and mixed divisions. Participants used the event as an opportunity to raise funds specifically designated for breast cancer research. Among the competitors were seven teams composed entirely of cancer survivors, adding an inspiring dimension to the competition.
The club’s fundraising efforts will continue throughout the summer season. An upcoming final race is scheduled for September 12th and 13th at Tom McCall Waterfront Park in Portland, giving additional teams and supporters another chance to contribute to the cause while enjoying the sport of dragon boat racing.
