Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio has become the 17th player in baseball history to achieve three 20-home run seasons before reaching age 23. The milestone was reached when Chourio homered during Saturday’s 5-3 victory against the Texas Rangers, placing him among legendary company including Hall of Famers Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, and Frank Robinson.
Chourio, who is currently 22 years old, expressed pride at joining such an elite group of players. The Venezuelan-born outfielder noted that while he did not grow up watching baseball extensively, he recognizes the significance of being mentioned alongside these baseball icons. His accomplishment comes despite a left hand fracture suffered during World Baseball Classic preparation that caused him to miss the season’s opening games until May.
The Brewers’ investment in Chourio paid dividends when they signed the then-19-year-old prospect to an eight-year, $82 million contract in 2023 before he reached the major leagues. Since his debut, Chourio has demonstrated exceptional performance, combining power and speed by recording more than 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases in each of his first two seasons. This year, despite his injury setback, he is on pace for career highs in batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage.
With the Brewers leading the major leagues, Chourio remains focused on the organization’s ultimate goal.
