An explosion on a passenger minibus in Jaramana, a town southeast of Damascus, has left at least two people dead and thirteen others wounded, according to Syria’s Ministry of Health. The blast occurred Thursday during rush hour in the Rauda district. Forensic teams are processing human remains discovered at the scene.
Security officials indicated that an explosive device had been deliberately placed on the vehicle. Emergency responders and residents quickly arrived at the location following the incident on the busy commercial street. No organization has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Jaramana, located roughly thirteen kilometers from the capital and home to mixed Druze and Christian populations, has experienced significant instability since the government transition in late 2024. The town witnessed armed clashes between Druze fighters and state security forces earlier in 2025, followed by sectarian violence that prompted negotiated disarmament agreements. This bombing marks the first major attack of its type in Jaramana since the political transition. Recent months have also seen other explosions in Damascus, with authorities attributing some to militant organizations.
