Little Spark Films has completed production on “Bridgette Wrona and the Whisper Creek Murders,” a young adult mystery thriller that filmed in Arlington, Texas. The project marks an original entry into the genre space, directed by Mary Beth McAndrews from a screenplay by Preston Fassel.
The film centers on its titular character, a twenty-something host of a true crime podcast who travels to a small East Texas community to investigate a serial killer case. As Bridgette digs deeper into the mystery surrounding a criminal known as The Flower King, she confronts personal demons tied to her own rural upbringing. The story explores themes of investigation and suspicion as she navigates a town where virtually anyone could be involved in the crimes.
Amanda Huerta leads the cast in her breakthrough role following her discovery through a Little Spark Films competition. The ensemble includes Lisa Gaye, Kelli Maroney, Alexandra Broussard, and Larissa Dali. McAndrews emphasized the film’s appeal to audiences seeking authentic, character-driven stories that tackle darker subject matter, positioning it as accessible horror cinema for younger viewers with an interest in true crime narratives.
The production is currently in post-production, with Catalina Querida and Larissa Dali serving as producers on the project.
