Take-Two Interactive reported $1.39 billion in net bookings during the April through June quarter, a period marked by the opening of preorders for the highly anticipated “Grand Theft Auto 6.” The publisher’s financial results demonstrate strong performance across its major franchises, with the “NBA 2K” and “Grand Theft Auto” series cited as the quarter’s primary revenue drivers. While specific sales figures for individual titles were not disclosed, both franchises showed year-over-year growth during the period.
The company’s CEO Strauss Zelnick characterized the reception to “GTA 6” preorders as “unprecedented and astonishing” during a call with financial analysts. Preorders became available on June 25, just one day after Rockstar Games announced pricing for the standard edition at $79.99 and the ultimate version at $99.99. Zelnick noted that the exceptional preorder response occurred over just five days of the quarter, yet cautioned against overconfidence regarding how these preorders would ultimately translate into actual sales figures.
Despite the strong bookings performance, Take-Two reported a quarterly loss of $34.1 million, widening from the previous year’s $11.9 million loss. The company attributed part of this downturn to a $43.4 million write-down related to halting development of an unannounced third-party title. Looking ahead, Take-Two maintained its full-year fiscal 2027 guidance of $8.0 to $8.2 billion in net bookings, with executives expressing confidence in sustained growth powered by the November launch of “Grand Theft Auto VI.”
