R&B artist Ne-Yo is facing a lawsuit filed by a woman who claims his dog attacked her while she was making a package delivery to his Georgia home. According to the complaint, the incident occurred on July 12, 2025, at his residence in Alpharetta, located outside Atlanta. The plaintiff, Dominique Bridgett, states the animal bit her leg without any provocation on her part.
The lawsuit alleges that Ne-Yo, whose legal name is Shaffer Chimere Smith, was aware of the dog’s history of aggressive tendencies but failed to properly secure the animal in violation of local leash and animal-control regulations. The seven-page complaint describes the encounter as a sudden, unprovoked attack that caused severe physical harm to Bridgett, including injuries, pain, and emotional trauma.
Bridgett has documented medical expenses totaling $9,039.50 and is seeking additional damages for ongoing pain, suffering, and loss of quality of life. The case, filed in Fulton County, will proceed to a jury trial. This lawsuit follows a similar incident involving R&B singer Chris Brown, whose dog attacked a housekeeper in 2020, resulting in a $13 million jury award to the victim.
