The Toronto International Film Festival is doubling down on one of its biggest successes. Festival organizers announced this week that the upcoming September 2026 event will feature a special screening of “Obsession,” the breakout hit that premiered at last year’s festival. Director Curry Barker and star Inde Navarrette will also participate in an onstage conversation as part of TIFF’s inaugural Market program.
“Obsession” has become a remarkable cultural and commercial phenomenon since its festival debut. The film generated nearly $500 million in worldwide box office revenue against a modest $750,000 budget, establishing itself as one of cinema’s most profitable projects to date. The festival’s decision to showcase the film again underscores its lasting impact on audiences and the industry.
Beyond “Obsession,” TIFF’s Midnight Madness lineup features an eclectic selection of genre films screening late into the evening at the Royal Alexandra Theatre. The program includes Anna Biller’s long-awaited follow-up to “The Love Witch,” titled “The Face of Horror,” alongside other titles such as Duncan Jones’s sci-fi thriller “Rogue Trooper” and a South Korean action film called “Hope” featuring an ensemble cast including Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander. The festival runs September 10-20, 2026.
